Solar Storm Survival

Created for the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2025 by Team HARVISTA, Solar Storm Survival explores the effects of solar storms and how humans respond in space and on Earth.

In the space mission, you start with a cinematic showing normal conditions until a solar storm hits. You must react quickly in a timing test to stabilize the spaceship, use the terminal to send messages to Earth, activate the radiation shield, and manage ship systems. Random malfunctions may occur, requiring you to stabilize the ship before continuing. All progress is saved until the mission is complete.

In the Earth mission, you play as a passenger plane pilot during a solar storm. Network disruptions force you to fly close to towers to reconnect. You must navigate between towers and guide the plane to the airport for an automatic landing. The goal is to survive and understand the challenges posed by solar storms.

How to Play:

• Space Mission:

  1. Press Space at the right time to stabilize the ship.

  2. Open the central computer and use the terminal to send messages to Earth.

  3. Activate the radiation shield.

  4. Adjust systems at the control panel as instructed.

  5. Stabilize the ship during random malfunctions.

• Earth Mission:

  1. Fly close to network towers to maintain connection.

  2. Navigate between towers before losing communication.

  3. Guide the plane to the airport and complete automatic landing.
